rev.jpg - a short video celebrating Rev's birthday that's actually a Screamer Prank. You can hear the shock in his voice and if you listen to Joel's voice closely when he says "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!" you can hear that it's muffled, like his hand is actually over his mouth. It's not for nothing that Joel goes quiet after seeing it. Immediately before the Game Over screen, the game depicts Felix as a happy angel, complete with a halo and pure white wings and immediately after the Game Over, the game immediately resets to the title screen, which depicts Felix normally. If you can read Russian (or have someone who can translate the text on the game over screen, you can get an extra dose of nightmare fuel:.Like the other game before it, it was quickly dampened by noting that you're playing with bootlegs when dead Marios start showing up. Much to his confusion, he decided to go to the Game Over screen ◊, which resulted in him seeing a realistic-looking skull with a Mario cap on it. He sees Mario on the ground with Blooper as a facehugger and a Piranha Plant as the chestburster. On a different Mario bootleg game that was made by the same developer as the one with the three-headed Piranha Plant image, the continue screen ◊ parodies Alien.Although, this continue screen was quickly dampened by Joel likening the other two heads to 'Piranha Tits'. When the player gets to the continue screen, an image of a three-headed Piranha Plant can be seen, with its center head grinning There is blood on the floor, and Mario's hat can clearly be seen.Joel quoted that Mario's screams sounded like he's in hell. Likewise, when Mario falls into a pit, he screams at the top of his lungs, with the voice clip sounding nothing like him. When Mario loses a life, a high pitched PSG rendition of Boss Battle 1 from Chrono Trigger plays. It's not really scary in itself, but it startled Joel because of how unexpected and out-of-place it was. For instance, in the Desert Levels, an Egyptian Mario appears. Every time a level loads, a brief (if not stolen) image of Mario appears that is stylized to not fit with the art style of the game. There are things about the game that are just terrifying, and he witnessed the horrors as soon as he starts the game. ![]() In contrast to the silly weirdness of most of the Chinese bootlegs Joel has played (such as Super Mario 7 with its Mario/Fred Flintstone hybrid), some of the Russian bootlegs he has played come across as more creepy than funny.Somehow the whole version that's played is even worse when considering it started out innocently enough (or at least as innocent as a corruption can be) and ended up having a (brief) sequel afterward.Vinny: I've never been more afraid of Scooby-Doo in my entire life. Unfortunately, Joel wasn't playing with the correct emulation, hence the horrific audio. note The game itself actually had emulation bugs-normally the song that plays is a (very bitcrushed) rendition of one of the songs from the film. Joel's stream of a DOS game based on All Dogs Go to Heaven.how did it disappear, especially when there are no characters besides the protagonist? When he tries to get to Mimiga Village the first time, the blocks prevent him from getting through at all, but after he explores the other way and comes back, one of the blocks is gone, allowing him through.Vinny, however, is more annoyed than scared most of the time though. The music is completely silent until you get the Weapon, which then triggers "Quiet", the Abandoned Mimiga Village theme. Cave "No" Story, a Cave Story mod that removes the story and all else. The use of The Mars Volta doesn't help matters. ![]()
